Area Sales Manager – Agriculture
‘The future is certainly looking bright orange!’
With Lister Wilder expanding its offering to include Kubota Agricultural equipment it became necessary to welcome new faces to team and with that, let’s meet your new Area Sales Managers for Agriculture; Bryn and Stuart. It’s time to really get to know these faces and hear their thoughts on what Kubota Agriculture is going to bring to the table for our farming community.
Taking care of you from our Cirencester depot we have the friendly and always helpful Stuart. Now, don’t let the accent fool you, although Stuart was born in Lanark, Scotland, he has spent most of his life living around Cirencester. For 35 years Stuart was Assistant Farm Manager on a dairy and arable farm. ‘I worked with my father and we ran the farm together doing the majority of the work ourselves with little need to outsource anything, service and maintenance of the farm equipment was part and parcel of the job.’ In the year 2000 the farm sold the 200 head herd and went solely into arable farming, allowing Stuart and his dad to gain even more hours in the seat and experience first-hand the necessities needed for a machine operator. As well as his many hours on the farm Stuart managed to also complete 11 years work with a mushroom composting recycling centre close by. With a great deal of passion and love for his job, Stuart was sad to see the farm sold in 2017 which left him searching for his next opportunity. It wasn’t long before he landed a job with Auger Torque, an earthmoving attachments business. Stuart had the opportunity to demonstrate the products to the customers and take on a more face-to-face role than he was used to. ‘I did a fair bit of time in Germany at shows, demonstrating and really putting in the groundwork with the customer.’
It was when Stuart craved that accomplishment of ‘sealing the deal’ that he realised a sales role might be more up his street. ‘Once I had handed over to the salesman and the deal was done, I thought to myself, I want to be that person, I want to follow the whole process to the end and that is what brought me to this point today.’ When an opportunity was presented to Stuart to be part of the Kubota Agricultural team for Lister Wilder, Stuart described feeling ‘over the moon.’ Familiar with Lister Wilder and Kubota through his 35 years as Assistant Farm Manager, Stuart felt confident that he knew the product and was eager to work with a company he knew well, ‘Everyone who knows Lister Wilder experiences a nice and friendly organisation. I am very happy here and the team is so welcoming.’
Stuart has a fantastic understanding of Kubota machines from the ground up. Whilst managing the farm he maintained and serviced numerous pieces of Kubota equipment such as B3030 compact tractor, L345BT tractor, 900 RTV and F3680 out-front mower. ‘I really feel like I know the guts of the machines, we did a good job of looking after the equipment, so much so that they collected large values when the farm was sold, despite their age.’
We were delighted to learn that Stuart not only has a passion for the farming industry but also for clay target shooting. Since 1989 Stuart has taken part in many competitions, most notably the English Skeet and American Skeet, travelling to Texas, USA to see the World Skeet competition every few years. Although we are relieved his main passion lies within agriculture!
So, the big question, what does Stuart think of the product and addition of Kubota Agriculture for Lister Wilder? ‘I really like the product; I can see Kubota being a leading light in the industry. People know the brand for a strong reputation in ground care, construction, forestry and now we can offer even more! Lister Wilder can be the one-stop-shop for everything the customer needs and this can only mean good things going forward, the future is certainly looking bright orange!’
