What We Look For

While full product training is provided, we’re especially keen to hear from individuals with a solid foundation in mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic systems. Experience with Tractors, Construction or Groundcare machinery is a plus — but we’re open to hearing from those with transferable skills from related industries.

We’re interested in practical, hands-on people who enjoy solving problems and delivering excellent service to our customers.

Ideal Backgrounds Include:

  • Plant, agricultural, or groundcare machinery
  • Automotive or commercial vehicle servicing
  • Armed Forces background (e.g. REME or Marines)
  • Mechanical or electrical engineering roles across similar sectors
  • Forklifts, HGVs, or other diesel-powered equipment

Key Skills:

  • 3–5 years’ engineering experience or relevant apprenticeship, perhaps in land-based engineering
  • Strong diagnostic, repair and fault-finding abilities
  • The ability to offer an outstanding level of customer service
  • Self-motivated and reliable
  • Computer literate
  • Full UK driving licence required

Groundcare Service Engineer

About the role

We are currently looking for a Service Engineer to join our Groundcare division. Based at our Ockham, near Guildford branch you will be joining a very knowledgeable, experienced, friendly team. Whilst the work is technically challenging, we look to provide a well-structured training program that works in conjunction with Kubota UK.

Much of the repair and service work is carried out on-site so a fully expensed service vehicle and fuel card will be provided. This mainly mobile role means that every day is different, but you still retain the support of the base in Guildford . The majority of our work tends to be with contractors, councils, schools, golf courses and private estates within Surrey and the surrounding area.

About you

We’re looking for practically minded engineers who are passionate about delivering high-quality service. While experience in the agriculture or groundcare industry would be ideal, it’s not essential as full product training is provided for the right candidates.

You should already have a strong technical foundation, with good working knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, electrics and hydraulics.

These skills are often transferable from other related sectors, so if you’re from a mechanical, engineering, or service background, we’d like to hear from you.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Full UK Driving licence.
  • Knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, electrics and hydraulics.
  • Able to offer an outstanding level of customer service.
  • Comfortable working independently.
  • Maths and English to GCSE level.
  • A qualification in land-based Engineering would be beneficial but is not essential.

Job Introduction

We are seeking an experienced Service Engineer with a strong background in groundcare machinery to join our team at our branch near Cirencester. This is a mobile role, and you will be provided with a fully expensed company service vehicle and fuel card.

In this role, you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing a varied range of groundcare machinery in line with manufacturer standards, while consistently delivering an exceptional level of customer service. You will carry out a full range of technical duties, including pre-delivery inspections (PDIs), routine maintenance, fault diagnosis, repairs, and rectification, ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently.

Full manufacturer-approved training will be provided to support your ongoing development and keep your technical knowledge up to date.

This is a full time role working 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Overtime will also be available during our busiest periods.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Technical Apprenticeship preferred or service industry experience in an Engineering based role.

What Will I Be Doing?

You’ll work alongside our experienced Service team, gaining hands-on experience in servicing, repairing and diagnosing a wide range of groundcare machinery.

This includes the full Kubota range such as compact tractors, utility vehicles and ride-on mowers — as well as equipment from other leading manufacturers including Timberwolf, Yamaha and Trimax.

Your role will be mainly workshop-based to begin with. As your skills and confidence develop, you’ll have the opportunity to start visiting customer sites with a qualified engineer. You’ll also spend time with our Parts and Warranty teams, helping you to understand the aftersales process and how we support our customers.

This is a full time position, working 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday with one hour for lunch.

The apprenticeship duration is 48 months, with around 36 weeks on college block release.

We are looking for a Parts Advisor to join the Lister Wilder family at our branch near Reading. While industry experience is highly desirable, we are also open to candidates who are interested in starting a career in parts as a Trainee Parts Advisor, or individuals from other industries who would like to transition into the groundcare and agricultural machinery sector.

If you have previous experience in a Parts environment — particularly within groundcare, construction or agricultural machinery — or you bring a strong mechanical mindset and a willingness to learn, this could be a great next step for you.

As a Parts Advisor, you will play a pivotal role within the dealership, sourcing parts for both our workshop team and our customers. A mechanical understanding that helps you identify parts accurately will be a real advantage, as will any working knowledge of groundcare or agricultural machinery. Excellent customer interaction skills are essential, as you’ll be liaising daily with engineers, colleagues and customers alike.

The hours for this role are Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, with Saturday mornings (8:00am–12:00pm) required on a rota basis.

We are looking for an Aftersales Manager to join our Key Accounts Team. You willtake ownership of the aftersales experience for our key customers, acting as the central point for Service and Parts enquiries, ensuring a consistently high level of service.

This is an exciting new role within the team and is pivotal in strengthening long-term customer relationships, managing service delivery against agreed Service Level Agreements and response times. You will also be acting as the main escalation point to ensure wider issues are resolved efficiently and professionally.

What you’ll be doing

Initially, you will work alongside our Service Director so that existing levels are maintained and then working with new systems (such as electronic scheduler) to allow for the expansion of this small, but important part of our business.

You will be responsible for overseeing all aftersales activity for assigned Key Accounts, ensuring service delivery meets agreed expectations while identifying opportunities to add value for both the customer and the business.

Working closely with internal teams across Sales, Parts and Service, you will help deliver a seamless, customer-focused aftersales experience and support continuous improvement across the function.

Hours & Location

This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. We are flexible which of our branches this role is based from, but candidates must be able to work from our Reading branch initially for training purposes – this is just a few minutes off the M4 J11.

Key Responsibilities

Demo Fleet Management

  • Coordinate demo machine bookings as requested by the Area Sales Managers (ASMs), keeping the shared calendar accurate and up to date.
  • Arrange all logistics for moving demo machines, ensuring timely delivery to the correct locations.
  • Oversee pre‑demo setup and post‑demo checks to make sure machines meet our standards of quality and readiness.
  • Work closely with our engineer to maintain exceptional machine presentation at all times.
  • Communicate clearly and regularly with ASMs regarding bookings, machine movements, delays, or changes.

Sales Processing & Yard Operations

  • Assist with loading and unloading incoming and outgoing goods vehicles.

  • Handle asset tagging, labelling, and goods‑in processing for accurate stock tracking.
  • Support annual stock takes and facility audits.
  • Book internal delivery logistics and ensure machines are where they need to be at the right
  • Help optimise stock across storage facilities to improve availability and operational efficiency.

Hours & Location

This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.  You’ll be based at our Depot in Swallowfield, Reading and may be required to travel to our other local branch and storage facilities – all within a short distance from the depot.

What You’ll Bring

  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Clear communication skills and a collaborative team-focused approach
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset
  • Comfort working in both office and yard environments
  • A genuine passion for machinery and equipment
  • Experience in a similar industry (e.g. groundcare, agricultural, plant, or machinery hire) would be advantageous, but not essential
  • A forklift licence would be beneficial, but is not essential as full training can be provided
