CAREERS AT LISTER WILDER

We are big believers in developing peoples talents from an early age.  With this in mind we are always keen to open the door for work experience as this gives students a fascinating insight into our business.  Some fall in love with the idea of repairing machinery for a living, and for the most naturally gifted of these people, we offer access to the Kubota Apprenticeship scheme.  This provides a lovely blend of college-based learning alongside quality time with our team of expert engineers…and a combination that accelerates your development and sets you on the pathway to becoming a Groundcare, Agricultural or Construction Service Engineer of tomorrow.

For more details on either the Work Experience or the Kubota Apprenticeship scheme, please contact Karen Martin – karen@listerwilder.co.uk

Current Roles

Groundcare/Construction Service Engineer

Ashford

Full Desc

We are currently looking for an engineer to work on a variety of Construction products, based at our Ashford branch. You would be joining a very knowledgeable and friendly team with a good mix of age and experience and whilst the work is technically challenging, we look to provide a well-structured training programme that works in conjunction with Kubota UK. Much of the repair and service work is carried out on-site and so a fully expensed vehicle will be provided. The mainly mobile role means that every day is different but you still retain the support of the base at Ashford and the majority of our work tends to be with plant hire companies, contractors, councils, schools, golf courses and private estates in the Kent area.

About you…

Full product training will be provided but we are looking to work with someone who already has a very solid foundation, ideally possessing an extensive knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, electrics and hydraulics. Many of these skills will be interchangeable from related industries. It is very important that you are comfortable in front of the customer as you’ll be speaking to many of them about the service, repair, diagnostic or warranty work that you have undertaken and ensuring they are happy with the job before moving on to the next.

Goods Inwards Operative

Ashford

Full Desc

Following an internal promotion, we now have a vacancy for a Goods Inwards person within our busy Ashford branch and so we are looking to make the new appointment sooner rather than later.

About the role…

Ashford is one of our busiest branches and its bursting with talent and experience. The throughput of the branch is enormous, and we are now looking for someone to join our Parts Department with the primary focus of looking after Goods Inwards. Goods Inwards is a crucial role as it acts as the gateway for all the Parts needed by both our customers and our workshop team alike…hold-ups here cause major problems further down the line. You’ll be in charge of receiving goods into stock and allocating all the urgently needed items alongside steadily working through stock orders and any internal depot transfers. The flow of Parts in and out of the department is constant and so the right mindset for this type of work is essential – we have therefore listed the key traits below.

About you…

The ideal Good Inwards person will have:

  • An excellent eye for detail as you book parts accurately into stock
  • A solid work ethic and a passion for a tidy and organised environment
  • A confidence with basic computer IT systems that are used for stock control
  • Able to use own initiative and prioritise stock orders, emergency orders and returns
  • The ability to work well under pressure and ask for help when required

Ideally you would have a forklift licence (although training will be given and a licence issued) and of course previous dealership or warehousing experience will be a big advantage.
