Exploring the Opportunities of Employment for Ex-Armed Forces Personnel at Lister Wilder

Read Neil’s story here.

Armed Forces Day was earlier this year. Its a day which recognises and supports individuals who make up the Armed Forces community, including currently serving troops, Service families, veterans, and cadets. Armed Forces Day is a special occasion to celebrate and honour the contributions and service of these individuals.

With that in mind we at Lister Wilder would like to take this opportunity to spotlight one of their own, Service Director Neil, who has an impressive military background.

Neil’s career began when he joined the army at the young age of 16 in 1982. He trained for 2 years as an apprentice Gun Fitter in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers at Princess Marina College. This was followed by additional training at SEME Bordon in Hampshire. Neil was then posted to the Second Royal Tank Regiment, Light Aid Detachment REME in Fallingbostel, West Germany. Here he worked on various military vehicles, including the CVRT Scorpion, Chieftain MBT, and Challenger 1 MBT tanks. His experience and expertise led him to be posted to the 49 Field Regiment Workshop in Lippstadt, West Germany, where he supported the M109 Self Propelled Guns. Neil passed his Class One course at SEME, Bordon in 1989, showcasing his commitment to learning and professional development.

Neil’s final posting was at the Royal School of Artillery in Larkhill, Wiltshire, where he was attached to 76 Battery and maintained every piece of Artillery available to the Royal Artillery.

Neil’s dedication and hard work over the years led to him becoming a Service Engineer for a Kubota dealer after leaving the army in 1991. After some franchise and dealer changes, Neil moved to Lister Wilder in 1999 and has worked up from Service manager to Group Service Manager to Group Service Director.

It is important to recognize individuals like Neil who have served our country and made valuable contributions to the Armed Forces community. The team at Lister Wilder thanks Neil and all the men and women who serve or have served in the Armed Forces for their service and dedication to our country.
